Still riding high on their April EP, Mirror’s Edge, Northlane have released a new song, “Welcome to the Industry,” as part of the soundtrack for the forthcoming video game Fretless – The Wrath of Riffson. In being part of the game, the Australian djent giants join YouTube star and heavy-music artist Rob Scallon, who has also been involved in that metal-themed “GuitarRPG.”
Nothlane commented of the new song: “We present to you ‘Welcome to the Industry’ — part of the original soundtrack for the upcoming game Fretless – The Wrath of Riffson.
“The brief was heavy but slightly light-hearted, which was a fun challenge for us, especially when it came to the narrative of the evil -(redacted)-.
“Keeping in mind that some of the sections would be used as holding patterns for dialogue, we tried to strike a balance between groovy riffs, build-ups, and chunky chords, leaning more toward the guitar side of Northlane with some electronics in more of a supportive role.
“We had a lot of fun with this, and we hope you all enjoy it.”
A demo for Fretless – The Wrath of Riffson was released earlier this year, with a release date expected in the coming months.
