Can you feel it? That certain “something” in the air? Well, it turns out that’s Marilyn Manson’s new cover of Phil Collins’ classic solo single, “In the Air Tonight,” which is officially streaming as of right now.
The cover, which follows the shock rocker’s 2024 comeback LP, One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1, continues Manson’s journey through goth-ing up Eighties-era pop hits (Think his takes on Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)” or his cover-of-a-cover inceptioning of Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love”). It had been made available on a maxi-single along with “As Sick As The Secrets Of (Sleep),” but that has now sold out.
His “In the Air Tonight” is reasonably faithful, if dark-gilded, delivering menacing synth bass, dank piano ambiance and a breathy multi-layer vocal from Manson. The song builds up tension with a a more distorted guitar chunking than Collins would have conjured. It features the requisite drum break. Manson brings the finale towards more of a grizzled scream.

As previously reported, Manson kicks off another round of U.S. tour dates next month, beginning with a May 2nd appearance in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In addition to his headlining gigs, there’s also an appearcne at Daytona Beach, Florida’s Welcome to Rockville festival on May 18th.
