Three years on from the release of Jivebomb’s Primitive Desires EP, the Baltimore, Maryland, hardcore crew are showing us how they’ve evolved. Truth be told, it seems like they’ve only gotten meaner, as evidenced by the battering heaviness of new single “SURVIVAL AIN’T TAUGHT.”
The track is the first preview of the band’s forthcoming debut album, ETHEREAL. “SURVIVAL AIN’T TAUGHT” comes across less speed-focused than much of what we’d previously heard on their 2021 demo and Primitive Desires, instead leaning into tough-and-knuckleheaded chugs and cement-cracking double-kick grooves. Atop it all, vocalist Kat Madeira growls through territorial lines about walking through the kingdom as the newly-crowned “big man.”

Jivebomb’s ETHEREAL was recorded with Uniform member Ben Greenberg at Circular Ruin in Brooklyn, New York. The album is said to deliver 13 minutes of “destructive chaos” inspired by hardcore, grindcore and more.

Jivebomb likewise have a number of East Coast dates on deck between now and April, including a short run of concert stops with pop-flirting hardcore outfit Angel Du$t and a February 15th appearance at the Flatspot Miami event alongside Scowl, Zulu and more.
