Coming off the release of Deafheaven’s absolutely monstrous “Magnolia” single earlier in the week, the long-running blackgaze favorites have now come through with details on an upcoming North American tour.
The band had previously teased a spring tour when “Magnolia” first dropped, and officially unveiled their travel plans this morning (January 29th). Before crossing the pond for a handful of European festival appearances in June, Deafheaven will be promoting their upcoming Lonely People with Power album with a 27-show stretch around North America.
The upcoming club tour will likewise feature opening sets from Arizona death-metal die-hards Gatecreeper and Texan heavy shoegazers Trauma Ray. The trip kicks off April 19th at The Belasco in Los Angeles, California, features a couple festival pitstops for Deafheaven, and then closes out May 23rd at Mesa, Arizona’s Nile venue.

As previously reported, Deafheaven’s Lonely People with Power was recorded with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (St. Vincent, M83) at Hollywood, California’s EastWest Studios. The band’s fifth full-length will apparently “confound expectations” by “expanding stylistic boundaries,” and features guest appearances from Boy Harsher’s Jae Matthews (“Incidental II”) and Interpol vocalist-guitarist Paul Banks (“Incidental III”).
Lonely People with Power is out March 28th via the band’s new label, Roadrunner Records. An exclusive variant of the album on “Honeyed Heat”-colored vinyl, limited to 500 copies, can be found in Revolver‘s shop.
