Metalcore vets Silent Planet and Invent Animate have revealed that they’ve joined forces to deliver a full-on collaborative EP. Fittingly enough, they’re teasing the forthcoming release with an absorptive tag-team track titled “Return to One.”
While the bands had been teasing their collaboration over socials this past week, Silent Planet formally confirmed today (January 23rd) that “Return to One” marks “the first of three stories from the upcoming EP, Bloom In Heaven,” which the band further described as “a collaborative experiment” with Invent Animate.
Now that the mad metalcore scientists have pulled “Return to One” out of the lab, we can say that it begins as a breakbeat jolted, low-judded and noise-spiked wrecker replete with meta-referential howls on the nature of this team-up (“When worlds collide – our voice is swallowed”)
While it’s also got a patient and pensive piano-and-vocal mid-section, Silent Animate go out on a heavy note. You can hear for yourself up above.
Thought the new collaborative single is streaming now, it’s as-yet unclear when the rest of Bloom In Heaven touches down.
