For any number of reasons, you could make a strong case that it’s looking pretty dark out there these days. Killswitch Engage, however, suggest that better times are on their way. The long-running metalcore are asking you to keep the faith along with them by streaming their latest This Consequence single, “I Believe.”
The new single hits a more anthemic and rocking tone than previously delivered thrash-and-basher “Forever Aligned,” with vocalist Jesse Leach more generally (though not exclusively) using an impassioned croon to work through lines about feeling hindered by paranoia, yet still striving to keep hope alive in dark times.
“‘I Believe’ is about undying hope,” he explained in a statement. “During difficult times perspective is everything. Knowing deep down that ‘this too shall pass’ has been a beacon of light for me. I do believe there is meaning behind suffering. If we are able to push through difficult times and come out the other side, there is a renewed sense of purpose.”
The vocalist added that the latest Killswitch song reflects upon and celebrates the things that bring humanity together, even when the chips are down. He notes: “Do not let this world pull you down into despair. Tomorrow is a new day and a new possibility for change!”
