Hear HOUSE OF PROTECTION’s sleek new anthem “I Need More Than This”

If you needed more House of Protection in your life, we’ve got some good news for you: the progressive, post-genre duo of Aric Improta and Stephen Harrison have an EP called Outrun You All arriving at the end of the month. Better yet, they’re now teasing the mini-collection with a huge-hooked single called “I Need More Than This.”

The new song, which follows fellow EP previews “Afterlife” and “Fire,” begins with a nervous twitch of melodic fuzz and a slinking rhythm from drummer-vocalist Aric Improta, who adds a few moody lines about feeling tongue-tied while someone else is “talking shit.”

The song eventually runs towards a more amp-cranked and anthemic kind of alt-dustrial sound arguably akin to With Teeth-era Nine Inch Nails, and then it winds down with a wavy-and-woozy, effects-warped finale.

“‘I Need More Than This’ is us exploring a mood between really heavy/fast and slow/chill,” the duo shared in a joint statement. “We don’t really have a song like this so it was fun to push ourselves in this way.”

A video for the track, which you can see up above, finds Improta and Harrison crushing the cut from their living room.

As previously reported, Outrun You All follows House of Protection’s 2024 debut EP, GALORE. The seven-song release is out May 23rd via Red Bull Records.

House of Protection have one North American date on the books, which happens to be a record release show at Los Angeles, California’s Roxy venue on May 24th. They also have a series of European fest and club gigs coming up through the summer and fall, and you can see the full schedule here.
