Though we’re still a couple weeks out from the release of Drug Church’s upcoming PRUDE album, the pop-coursing hardcore band have shotgun-blasted another new single our way ahead of time. Staged as a criminal caper gone wrong, the track and accompanying music video are called “Slide 2 Me.”
Sonically, the track is a jaunty, bounce-worthy bit of melodic punking that pushes Drug Church into an especially poppy direction. This seriously contrasts Patrick Kindlon’s gritty lyricism, which reports on a botched liquor store robbery, getting shot, “bleeding out on someone’s lawn,” and ending the night in handcuffs at the local E.R. Rough stuff!
The music video taps into the narrative, too, with a would-be robber getting a stomach full of buckshot care of a convenience store clerk (the latter portrayed by I Think You Should Leave actor Biff Wiff, who’d previously starred in Drug Church’s “Demolition Man” video).
