Drug Church aren’t a bashful bunch, so it only makes sense that the second single off the band’s forthcoming PRUDE is a vibrant, in-your-face bit of pop-polished hardcore. If you’re ready for a pre-release snack, their new tune is titled “Chow.”
Though earlier single “Demolition Man” pushed Patrick Kindlon’s vocal into growlier territory, “Chow” has him moonlighting above thickly distorted barre chords with a rasp-heavy croon, making the track sound something like a Psychedelic Furs/Hot Water Music crossover that’s fit for the pit. His poetics cross through primal urges (“I laugh when my body tells me / I cry when my brain compels me”), stagnation, and the jokes you crack along your “pathway to hell.”
“Everything ages poorly,” the vocalist puts it early on, but the tune has all the makings of a Drug Church classic. You can check it out for yourself up above.
As previously reported, the 10-song PRUDE finds Kindlon needling into “sad storytelling,” and was produced and engineered alongside longtime collaborator Jon Markson. The record is out October 4th through Pure Noise Records, and you can pick up the Revolver-exclusive vinyl variant of PRUDE, limited to 300 copies, over in our shop.
Drug Church have likewise fleshed out their fall tour schedule, adding a number of November tour dates alongside Modern Color, Soul Blind and PONY.
