Vibrant, Deftones-backed pop-punker Ecca Vandal has apparently been putting work into an upcoming project behind the scenes, though she’s giving us a taste of “MOLLY” before dropping the full release.
The new single follows February’s “CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE,” and it has Vandal’s scratchy but melodious flow initially working itself above circular, punchy guitar tones and to-the-point drum beats, before it all ramps up towards a soaring chorus.
Accordingly, the video finds the artist belting out the song while wearing a set of angel wings. The clip also finds her krumping in a kitchen, fishing in her bathtub and apparently getting ready to take a bite out of a bejeweled tier-cake.
Of naming the track “MOLLY,” Vandal says: “There’s the surface meaning, the chaos, the high, that kind of bliss that comes from forgetting things for a while, from turning the volume down on the world. But underneath all that, there’s something quieter going on – the feeling of being cut down, sometimes broken into pieces, and then slowly finding your way back, getting up again, rebuilding yourself bit by bit.”

Vandal recently performed at the Dia De Los Deftones event. She hits Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles, California on Sunday (November 16th), and then heads to Mexico and South America with Limp Bizkit. You’ll find all of her upcoming concert dates below.
