While we’re but one week out from the release of Daron Malakian and Scars on Broadway’s long-awaited third album, Addicted to the Violence, the iconic System Of A Down guitarist and his other band are looking to get a little destruction in early. Specifically, the act have just issued the second single from the LP: “Destroy the Power.”
Scars slow the pace down a touch from last month’s kinda thrashy “Killing Spree,” with Malakian and CO. gelling into a chunk-forward groove, Eastern scale modality and more. Malakian’s violence-addicted vibrato cuts through the mix to critique abuses of power from the folks at the top, but also power-trippers in general (“We take the power and we can destroy you”).

As previously reported, Daron Malakian and Scars on Broadway deliver their next full-length release through Scarred for Life next Friday (July 18th), which also happens to be Malakian’s 50th birthday. An exclusive, limited-edition “metallic gold” variant, limited to 300 copies, is available to pre-order in Revolver’s shop, where you can likewise pick up standard black wax and CD version of the album.
