BABYMETAL have been on an absolute collaborative tear in the lead-up to their upcoming Metal Forth LP. Following recent singles alongside Alex Terrible and Poppy, the trio have now officially unleashed “Kon! Kon!” — their latest team-up with current tourmates, Indian metal outfit Bloodywood.
The song is the second collaboration between BABYMETAL and Bloodywood, following last year’s “Bekhauf” single (which is also on Bloodywood’s recent Nu Delhi LP). “Kon! Kon!” continues their heavy crossover approach, mixing kawaii-pop vocal harmonies with boastful raps from Bloodywood’s Raoul Kerr, grizzy growls from screamer Jayant Bhadula and hard-battd dhol drum rhythms. Naturally, heavy-djenting guitar melodies abound.
While the song hit streamers today, BABYMETAL and Bloodywood have in fact been taking “Kon! Kon!” to the stage on their current joint tour (which also includes Black Veil Brides and Jinjer on select dates). Up above, you’ll find the live footage-loaded music video for “Kon! Kon!”, which was filmed at New York City, New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 24th.
BABYMETAL’s North American headline tour continues tonight (July 11th) at Denver, Colorado’s JunkYard venue, and runs until the end of the month. You’ll find the rest of the date details here.
BABYMETAL are also the stars of Revolver’s new Summer Issue. You can read more about the making of Metal Forth in our exclusive interview. The magazine is available now as a standalone issue, as well as in a deluxe collector’s bundle that includes a Revolver-exclusive, limited-edition “crystal clear” vinyl variant of METAL FORTH.
As previously reported, METAL FORTH is out in full August 8th via Capitol Records.
