Chelsea Wolfe has been on a prolific, ambitious tear in 2024. On top of issuing her staggeringly sublime She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She album — one of Revolver’s favorites of the year so far — the aural contortionist also delivered remix EP UNDONE and reimagined Spiritbox’s “Cellar Door” acoustically. The latter is especially significant, as that cover will now be part of Wolfe’s newly announced Unbound EP.
The five-song release, out November 15th via Loma Vista, is described as “the final chapter of the She Reaches Out triptych,” and it will be presented as a stripped-down acoustic collection. The remodeled tracks are said to be “exposed, stripped and skyclad,” with Wolfe paring the album’s most maximalist arrangements down to voice, piano and guitar.
When it came to She Reaches Out’s “Place in the Sun,” that meant removing the more wind-wooshing electronics and processed beatwork in order to showcase lithe piano fingering and Wolfe’s elemental vocal. It’s confirmed that Unbound will also include Wolfe’s acoustically-arranged revamp of Spiritbox’s “Cellar Door,” which premiered in the spring during a BBC radio session. Most recently, Wolfe was invited onstage in California to join Spiritbox for a performance of another of their songs, “Jaded.”
Wolfe is set to play a handful of “Unbound” sets later this year. You’ll find the info on those North American dates, as well as the artist’s upcoming European show schedule, down below.
