A dozen years on from Crossfade’s last performance, the Carolina post-grunge crew have revealed that they’re getting the band back together in 2025. For the time being, the “Cold” hit-makers will be making at least a pair of appearances, with festival slots now booked at next year’s Sonic Temple and Inkcarceration festivals.
Crossfade’s return was confirmed yesterday (October 14th) by both festivals. The band will first appear at Sonic Temple, performing May 10th at Columbus, Ohio’s Historic Crew Stadium. So far, we know they’ll share the stage that day with Bullet for My Valentine, I Prevail, Hollywood Undead and more. A headliner for that day has yet to be announced.
“Despite their long absence, Crossfade’s music has had remarkable staying power, with listenership only continuing to grow across the globe,” Sonic Temple organizers wrote in their Instagram announcement. “For years, rock fans have been asking us to make this reunion happen. We are so grateful to the band for coming together with us to finally make this a special reality in 2025!”
Crossfade will then hit Mansfield, Ohio’s Ohio State Reformatory at some point between July 18th-20th for music and tattoo festival Inkcarceration. Thus far, the only other band to be revealed is Canadian rock outfit Three Days Grace, whom just reunited with classic lineup-era vocalist Adam Gontier.
Crossfade guitarist-vocalist Ed Sloan and bassist Mitch James initially came together in 1991 under the band name the Nothing, but eventually became Crossfade in 2002. The Columbus, South Carolina act’s platinum-selling self-titled album arrived in 2004, and featured chart hits “Cold,” “So Far Away” and “Colors.” Their third and last album, We All Bleed, was delivered in 2011, with the act having performed their last show in Charlotte, North Carolina in the summer of 2012.
Despite the dozen years of inactivity, Crossfade never officially broke up. Sloan had, however, put out a series of solo singles, last leaving listeners with his “Without You” in 2018.
