2026 has been good to Converge fans — the hardcore legends issued their Love Is Not Enough album in February and are due to drop their Hum of Hurt follow-up in June. Arriving in between is a new grungy cover of their classic “You Fail Me,” as crafted by self-described “vampiric sludge” faction Blood Vulture.
Steered by vocalist-guitarist and 2 Minutes to Midnight host Jordan Olds, Blood Vulture hit You Fail Me’s title track with distorted heft. But they also take the mid-Aughts classic in a different direction by going all-clean with Olds’ vocal performance, delivering an inkier yowl than the fierce and singularly feral screech Converge’s iconic frontman Jacob Bannon affixed to the OG.
“The battle of anger and empathy in Jacob’s writing is so beautiful and because of the dealings I’ve had with struggling loved ones in my life, the song’s subject matter has always hit me like an axe (to fall),” Olds commented.
“Covering a band that’s still active and creatively thriving isn’t really done in our world, but I think we sometimes forget to celebrate the bands that never stop and never look back,” he continued. “Like many, I wouldn’t be here without their music or their personal support through the years and so I wanted to honor them.”
The “You Fail Me” cover was produced by Jon Markson and mixed by Alan Douches, who also notably produced and mastered You Fail Me.
