Better Lovers are officially crashing through the walls with their brand-new track. Coming off yesterday’s (July 30th) surprise, yet long-awaited reveal that the hardcore supergroup are just about to drop their full-length debut, Highly Irresponsible, the quintet are now officially previewing the record with its hyperkinetic first single, “A White Horse Covered in Blood” and its equally energized music video.
The cathartic, rage-room-set vid finds the band barreling into a herky-jerky mosh monstrosity of twitched guitar damage and sass-adjacent howls from vocalist Greg Puciato, of Dillinger Escape Plan fame. As you can see up above, the song clearly has the band pumped up, as it leads all of Better Lovers towards smashing their gear, tossing potted plants and plunging microphone stands through the walls like the second coming of Aerosmith and Run-D.M.C.’s “Walk this Way” video.
“Playing and hearing our own music makes us want to run through walls,” guitarist and Every Time I Die alum Jordan Buckley dead-panned in a statement, “So we made a video where, while playing and hearing our own music, we run through walls. This ain’t rocket surgery!”
As for the album, the 11-track Highly Irresponsible was produced by Better Lovers (and Fit for an Autopsy) guitarist Will Putney, who noted that his role is to “capture the energy of the band the way it’s intended to sound: a band firing on all cylinders.”
He added: “Being a member of the band and the producer is actually a real advantage for Better Lovers. We’re so dialed in to exactly what we want to do, and our creative process is so in sync and natural that we rarely hit a wall when we work on music.”
“Everyone really brought their best to the album, and brought out the best in each other, and that goes for everyone behind-the-scenes, too,” Puciato added.
