Get ready for the floods: a new line of whiskey beverages saluting late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell is due to hit stores later this summer. The new liquor brand, called BlackTooth Beverages, was founded by Rita Haney, the iconic guitarist’s longtime girlfriend, and will be launched at a party to mark what would have been Dime’s 58th birthday.
The BlackTooth line will feature a mixture of aged whiskey blends and pre-made alcoholic beverages that, according to a press release, speak to the “rebellion, creativity and unifying nature” of the shredder — who invented his own “Black Tooth Grin” cocktail back in the Nineties. Back then, it was concocted as a double shot of Seagram’s 7, a double shot of Crown Royal and a splash of Coke on ice.
“Darrell always wanted his own whiskey, we talked about it a lot together,” Haney said in a statement. “I have handwritten notes and lists, with his ideas and drawings, BlackTooth was always part of those goals he wanted to reach. Dime was always about unity, whether it be brought around through music or good cocktails. He loved to pour ‘em up and ‘Watch It Go!’ He was always about a damn good time! I think this whiskey represents his essence very well…”
BlackTooth Beverages’ signature bottle is described as a seven-year-aged rye whiskey blended with “the finest artesian spring water from the Rocky Mountains.” From there, the line also offers up BlackTooth Blended, a whiskey-and-vodka, and pre-made cans of BlackTooth Grin that come in both “Leaded” (with sugar) and “Unleaded” (sugar-free) variations.
“Rita is truly honoring Dimebag’s legacy in every sense with BlackTooth Beverages,” BlackTooth Director of Operations Brent Hamilton added. “I feel that fans will appreciate the time and effort she has spent developing an authentic ‘BlackTooth’ taste profile. The initial response has been beyond exciting. I’m honored to be a part of BlackTooth and to be able to finally share it with the fans.”
The BlackTooth Beverages launch takes place August 20th at the Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood, California. As part of “Dime Day,” Haney herself will be pouring out shots of BlackTooth whiskey, alongside other “special guest bartenders.” Additionally, a pop-up-syle “Dimebag Experience” will display a clutch of Dime’s guitars and other memorabilia, while Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin will be broadcasting live from the venue, spinning Pantera tunes and sharing stories of the late musician on-air.
