Y’all ready for more new Shit from Behemoth? The extreme-metal vets have just unveiled the second taste of their impending The Shit ov God, a blasted-and-blasphemous anthem for the undesirables that they call “The Shadow Elite.”
The new song finds vocalist-guitarist Nergal and co. ebbing-and-flowing through a series of nuclear-charged blast sections, anthemically-blackened choruses, grotesquely syncopated chunk sections and more. Nergal’s lyrics, meanwhile, encompass an oncoming “shadow elite” raining fire upon holy lands.
“Lyrically, it’s a call to arms — a fearless battle cry for outcasts, anarchists, and free minds to rise. We will not be silenced,” Nergal said in a statement. “It’s about uniting and summoning the courage to embrace and amplify the fire of freedom that burns within us!”
As for the music video, it fittingly finds a gang of Behemoth fans storming a bunker to see the band hammer through the song from inside a steel cage we imagine they might’ve got a good deal on at a Nine Inch Nails fire sale. The black-and-white visuals are grainier than a bootleg copy of Begotten, and also feature a Lord Humungus-like captive, and you can see it up above.
As previously reported, Behemoth’s 13th album has been described as the act’s “most inflammatory and extreme record to date,” and it apparently explores “the fathoms of humanity, divinity, and what defiance means in an age where individuality is prized but everyone is clinging to their saviors.”
The Shit Ov God is out May 9th via Nuclear Blast Records, though you can find pre-orders over here.
