Let us rejoice, the new Don Broco album is here.
The UK genre-hyphenates released their Nightmare Tripping album in full today (March 27th), and to celebrate, they’ve additionally delivered a music video for the brawnily melodic “True Believers” track they put together with Architects vocalist Sam Carter.
The tune, which follows their Nickelback-infused “Nightmare Tripping,” merges all kinds of Broco specialties — from thick-and-meaty nu-grooved rhythms, to pop-and-R&B-twitched production effects to an earworm of an acoustic hook. Vocalist Rob Damiani wilds out with furious screams, as does Carter in the second verse, while a touch of vocal lightness arrives in the choir-styled, acoustic-driven mid-section.
Damiani, meanwhile, notes in a statement that the song has heavy implications, and was inspired by his contrasting thoughts “between celebratory British patriotism and violent English nationalism.”
“Over the last few years it’s been impossible to avoid the rise of the far right across Europe and the United States, seeing politicians and people on the streets alike using the Nazi salute freely without consequence, and genocide apologist’s ideas embraced in the mainstream media,” Damiani commented. “This song is about the brainwashing that’s led to this, to question what we’ve been brought up believing and the narratives that have been reinforced for generations.”
Of the Carter guest spot, he added: “We’ve been fans of Architects for a long time and the energy and aggression he brings to his vocals are unmatched. As a human being of planet earth he’s used his talents again and again to stand up for what’s right so to collaborate on this song with him was very special.”
