Architects are ramping up into overdrive in the lead-up to their The Sky, The Earth & All Between. Coming off the release of their melodic and melancholic “Everything Ends” single earlier in the week, the UK metalcore vets are now snapping synapses by unveiling the album’s “Brain Dead” collaboration with experimental duo House of Protection.
The song, described in a press statement as “a scathing take on modern disillusionment, wrapped in a chaotic, high-energy delivery that embodies Architects at their most explosive,” delivers a sensory-overload of fast-as-fuck old school hardcore beats and melodic metalcore hooks.
Vocally, frontman Sam Carter works though a round of grotesque growls in the verse and infectiously melodic cleans in the chorus. House of Protection are there to smear the thing with furiously-rapped bars about hypocrites and ego trips.
A video for the hyperactive track, meanwhile, finds Carter and HOP cruising through Los Angeles, California. Imbued with fast-moving footage and glitchy production effects, the clip includes scenes of Carter and House of Protection hitting the streets with their skateboards, and loitering at various city landscapes. Right about the time the song drops into a monstrous breakdown, we get a guest appearance from monster truck royalty Grave Digger.

As previously reported The Sky, The Earth & All Between will be released in full this Friday (February 28th) via Epitaph Records. In addition to the guest appearance from HOP, the album likewise features Architects’ “Judgement Day” collaboration with rising nu-gaze solo artist Amira Elfeky.
Architects’ 11th full-length release is the band’s first major release since longtime guitarist Josh Middleton exited the project in 2023. It was produced by former Bring Me the Horizon member Jordan Fish, who likewise produced House of Protection’s recent “Afterlife” single, and worked with that band’s Stephen Harrison on Poppy’s 2024 full-length, Negative Spaces.
