Canadian shredder/social media influencer Cole Rolland has teamed-up with fellow Canuck and former Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz to deliver a new song called “Breathing.”
The pair were promoting the music video for their new collaborative track earlier this week, appearing in socials posts together to beckon us to “watch it together” for today’s (January 30th) premiere. As you can see, White-Gluz, Rolland, and the guitarist’s band are playing the booming hard rock anthem from inside some kind of opulent haunted house on a stormy night, lighting strikes running in tandem with cymbal crashes and quasi-operatic wails.
While the dramatic, nightmare-imbued narrative is sung in the first person (“Is this my fate? Am I lost?”), White-Gluz and Rolland are tag-teaming harmonies pretty much the whole time. Rolland, who has collaborated with guitar virtuosos like Bernth and Dragonforce, also scorches the earth with dynamic, over-the-top fretboard work.

As recently reported, White-Gluz left Arch Enemy late last year following a 12-year run with the extreme metal band. That announcement also launched the vocalist’s new solo era, with her “The Room Where She Died” single teasing a forthcoming, to-be-detailed LP.
