His time is now — almost.
Following recent online teasing, occult rockers Ghost are apparently on pace to reveal their next frontman, Papa V Perpetua, tomorrow (March 5th) via the release of a new “phantasmagoric spectacle” called “Satanized.”
The group have been teasing a major announcement over the last while, having launched their “FumataCast” livestream over the weekend to promote an impending event in Las Vegas, Nevada. Now, in Ghost’s latest round of socials posts — and with the help of a Vegas-glitzy billboard — they’re suggesting that Papa V Perpetua officially ascends into his new role at midnight.
“We wish to inform you that our Sin City council is complete,” the band wrote. “Papa V Perpetua’s ascension is imminent. So let’s gather together at 12am EST on Wednesday, March 5th. All are welcome to escape the travails of daily life and to become one with the phantasmagoric spectacle.”
Rewinding a bit, Ghost’s last frontman, Papa Emeritus IV retired from the stage in 2023. In recent weeks, it was announced that his apparent successor, Papa V Perpetua would be making an appearance at Black Sabbath’s “Back to the Beginning” all-star final show this summer.
In February, Ghost added the “V is Coming” playlist to Spotify, which included a series of older Ghost songs. Fans quickly noticed, however, that you can spell out “Satanized” using the first letter of each of those playlist cuts.
It is as-yet unclear if “Satanized” is the name of a new Ghost single or a larger project, but a YouTube landing page is already up over here for the big reveal.
While Ghost delivered their meta-textual RITE HERE RITE NOW film in 2024, the group have not delivered a full-length album since 2022’s Impera.
