Heavy shoegazists Fleshwater have delivered the first tone-warped single for a newly announced LP they’ll be promoting on that upcoming fall tour alongside Angel Du$t and Chat Pile. The first preview they’ve thrusted our way is called “Jetpack.”
The song comes from the band’s 2000: In Search of the Endless Sky, Fleshwater’s full-length follow-up to 2022 debut album We’re Not Here to Be Loved. “Jetpack” offers distortion-cranked sweetness, wavy guitar effects and lite-moshed beats. The back-and-forth vocals from guitarists Anthony Didio and Marisa Shirar act as a nexus point between the Sundays and recent tourmates Deftones.
Didio explained in a statement that “Jetpack” is “a really special song that takes me on an adventure every time I hear it.”
“It was the main source of inspiration for this album and really encapsulates the entire vibe of it,” he continued. “I’m excited for people to finally hear it and have it take them on their own personal journey.”
Fleshwater recorded guitars and bass for 2000: In Search of the Endless Sky at God City Studio with Kurt Ballou and Zach Weeks, while drums — contributed by Pianos Become The Teeth’s David Haik — were recorded by Kevin Bernstein at Mag Pie Recording Studio. The vocals were self-recorded. The final mix was also done at God City Studios, while mastering was done by Nick Townsend of Infrasonic Studios.

Fleshwater then kick off their fall North American tour on September 17th at the Opera House in Toronto, Ontario. Angel Du$t are the openers for the first leg of the 6-week trip, while Chat Pile handle the back half of the dates.
