Electric Callboy have entered a “Hypercharged” new era, and they’re ready to drop the beat.
Following months of teasing, the energetic German electronicore entity have announced the proper details behind their long-in-the-works TANZNEID LP. The album drops in full this August, though they’ve just unleashed new single “Hypercharged,” which arrives in a cross-promotional video for online battle arena/shooter game Brawl Stars.
The song calls back to the EDM-ish footsteps of previous Callboy tracks like “Elevator Operator” and “TANZNEID,” bringing even more dancefloor madness through Untz beats, glowstick synth sounds and a mix of screamed and sung positivisms.
Through it all, Electric Callboy sing of the beat pounding deep within their essence (“My metal heart is hypercharged /This is what keeps me alive”), while likewise throwing in references to Brawl Stars locales like Madevil Manor.
A video finds the band cast as eccentric, pitchfork-hoisting ER surgeons, while also integrating animated footage from the Brawl Stars universe, even introducing a new character dubbed “Damian.”
“We’ve always been massive gaming fans, so teaming up with Brawl Stars felt like a perfect match from the start,” the group wrote in a joint statement. “The track came together naturally, and we loved seeing it take shape as Damian’s theme. Damian fits our sound like he was built for it. Heavy, explosive, and impossible to ignore. It’s pressure, groove, and madness all at once. We love it!”
A full tracklisting has yet to be delivered for the upcoming TANZNEID, which follows 2022’s TEKKNO, though the group teases that “every track surges with energy.” It’s expected to include the title track, their “RATATATA” collab with BABYMETAL and more.
“We took what we loved about TEKKNO and pushed it further, adding new elements, new sounds, and new extremes,” they added. “Heavy beats, explosive drops, and moments that hit you right in the chest. The last singles ‘RATATATA’ and ‘Hypercharged’ were just the beginning. Now it’s raw, loud, and alive, in every pulse, every scream, every melody.”
TANZNEID is out August 7th via Century Media Records, though a pre-order for an exclusive vinyl variant on “Neon Violet” wax (limited to 300 copies) is up in Revolver’s shop, where you can likewise pick up a standard black wax edition.
