This past weekend Revolver made the trip to Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee — not only to check out the Tennessee Lottery 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race but also to hang with Columbus, Ohio’s own Doobie. The platinum rapper just dropped his debut rock album, Give ‘Em Hell Until You Get to Heaven, and gave the record an extra boost by teaming with Revolver to sponsor SS-Greenlight Racing driver Nick Leitz.
We met Doobie at the garage just before the race where he and Leitz were kicking it in matching fire suits (that’s what they call the driver’s outfit), which were both emblazoned with Revolver’s logo and Doobie branding, as was the NASCAR racer’s vehicle. When the artist and the team at his label ONErpm reached out a while back and let us know they were Revolver fans and wanted to involve us in this project, we said, “Hell yeah!”
Listening to Give ‘Em Hell Until You Get to Heaven, it makes sense that NASCAR was the chosen avenue for promotion — the high-octane 14-track album is like a race soundtrack. The record includes a reimagined version of Saliva’s “Click Click Boom” featuring the group’s OG singer Josey Scott, a cover of Danzig’s “Mother,” a Yelawolf collaboration aptly titled “Krazy MF,” and the recent single “Stone Cold” with guest vocals by Nothing More’s Jonny Hawkins.
