Here at Revolver, we’re always on the hunt for new songs to bang our heads to — indeed, it’s a big part of our jobs. With that in mind, here are the tracks released this week in gauzy nu-gaze, rip-roaring riff rock, twisted blackened trip-hop and more that have been on heavy rotation at Revolver HQ.

ERRA – “stelliform”
“We choose to self-destruct.”
A combustible energy crackles throughout ERRA’s “stelliform,” the first song on the veteran melodic metalcore expanders’ seventh full-length, silence outlives the earth.
The tune rockets us right into a series of noisily djent-jarred riffs, which rustle against J.T. Cavey’s from-the-gut power-howls. After the pressure-cooker intro, the fuselage blasts apart to spangle out kinda Eighties-ish metal guitar harmonies and stargazing vocal flourishes.
GILT – “Seattle Day 2”
Much like the fictional cat-eared e-girl reviewing “Seattle Day 2” in GILT’s meta-reflective music video, we are down with the “spooky hardcore vibes” the self-described “nü emocore” band bring to the table.
All told, we’re “crushed up under the weight” of the Floridian outfit’s Last of Us-inspired wrecker, which is full of hard-hammered beats and soil-trodden chord chunking. Asha Locke screams of fungal infestation (“No defense against cordyceps”) and post-apocalyptic survivor’s guilt (“These thoughts, they make me weak”).
Portrayal of Guilt – “Ecstasy”
Portrayal of Guilt left us quivering with their eerily sensual and supremely screamy new single, “Ecstasy.”
On one side of things, we’ve got the Texan extreme trio delivering black-metal-adjacent howls and brutal lines about being “exiled to an eternity of mental agony on a bed of broken glass.” But the song is also anchored to hypnotic trip-hop drum loops and nu-bleak guitar melodies, while shivery vocal hooks reign supreme in the chorus.
From top to bottom, the genre-melting cut suggests we’re in for quite a ride on POG’s upcoming …Beginning of the End.
Split Chain – “sylvia (i won’t belong to you)”
No “fake pleasantries,” here, Split Chain have wowed us again. Coming off last year’s gorgeously nu-gazing motionblur LP, the UK quintet have returned with another hypnotically groove-bound and gauzy confection. And their “sylvia” now belongs to us.
Singer Bert Martinez-Cowles is torn apart “at the seams” as he screams and croons over a heart-aching situation, but the band bring it all together with sad-swung dynamics and effects-wavy melodicism.
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza – “Say When”
“This is on another level.”
The time has finally come. More than 13 years on from the release of their last album, mathcore brutalists the Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza have entered the chat with a grotesquely boom-forward statement of intent. And for the record, they’re back and they’re pissed.
“Say When” is relentless in its spine-compressing attack, each cement-shoed bass drum kick and effects-riddled djent riff squashing us into the ground a mile at a time. We’ll let you know when we’re ready to climb out of the wreckage.
The Warning – “Kerosene”
The Warning are slinging some serious shade in their new fiery riff-rocker, “Kerosene” — and we’re here for the drama.
Dany, Pau and Ale Villarreal are burning red hot between the tune’s brawny but melodic drive and its pointed lyrics about try-hard copy-cats trying to steal the sister act’s signature sound (“You try to write the songs I sing/It makes me sick”).
From the hooks down to the big-ass flamethrowers the band are toting in the music video, it’s clear that the Warning are packing serious heat.
