The Blood Brothers’ major label debut paired the Seattle experimentalists with nu-guru Ross Robinson, who helped push the band towards an even more exaggerated and extreme form of art-damaged hardcore. The two-screamer approach camped it up with sassy, surrealist wordplay on bulimic rainbows and sexline perverts; the songs manically contorted themselves through elements of gothic horror, free jazz, ‘70s glam, and Gravity Records-influenced punk.
Ablaze in feverish ambition, it’s a memorably weird trip around the Island.
