Named after a line from Misfits’ “Bullet,” comprising ex-members of Shelter and 108, and signed to the iconic Revelation Records imprint, Texas is the Reason’s collective background is punk and hardcore, through and through. And yet, the band’s lone full-length opens up the spectrum by mixing knuckle-down, drop-D grooves with an undeniably rocking melodicism and vocalist-guitarist Garrett Klahn’s diary-esque lyricism. It’s kind of emo, kind of hardcore, and all kinds of awesome. Repressed for its 30th anniversary on “Red Marble” vinyl and packaged with an eight-page booklet full of never-before-seen photos from the Nineties.
