Ramones’ sophomore follow-up to their landmark 1976 self-titled debut is one of the band’s most underrated early releases. While it may be overshadowed by its older brother, Leave Home still possesses everything you love about the four boys from Forest Hills: buzzsaw guitar melodies, to-the-point punk-pop arrangements and humorous, street level smarcasm delivered through Joey Ramone’s patented drawl. Leave Home is no great departure for Ramones, but it confidently cemented their sound and features some of their most magnetic tracks (“Pinhead,” “Commando”). If you didn’t know the score before, it’s finally time you spun the Ramones’ second album.
