Primus’ funk-forward and freakish brand of alt-metal can be an acquired taste, yet 1993’s Pork Soda was the Bay Area trio’s big crossover moment, debuting in the Billboard Top 10 and having since sold over a million copies. Their Platinum-tipped third album was nevertheless a surreal and overwhelmingly dark entry in their catalogue, sporting signature songs like aggressively bass-slappin’ murderlogue “My Name is Mud” and the bureaucratic paranoia of “DMV”. Peak weirdness with a long-lasting aftertaste, you can grab yourself a copy of Pork Soda on double-sized “Pork Explosion” vinyl.
