After experimenting with nu-metal flavors on 2018’s Am I a Girl?, Poppy fully embraced the heavy with 2020 follow-up I Disagree. That’s not to say that her third album is pure headbanging fuel — opener “Concrete” alone a mixes grotesquely barbarous deathcore breakdowns with Beach Boys-esque baroque pop, Seventies glam guitarmonies and Nineties coffee-shop pop. The subversively genre-skewering collection also features the industrialized, Grammy-nominated “BLOODMONEY” single. Poppy’s “chewy, chewy, yummy, yummy, yummy” breakthrough remains a tasty treat. Back on vinyl, and available on limited “clear with red splatter” vinyl.
