Description
It's an eternal question facing music fans: do you want your favorite artists to keep making shit that sounds like what they've done before, or do you want them to create something new and different. How much do you want them to explore? Sometimes that creative exploration is conscious, a deliberate effort to rebuild and redefine; sometimes it's subconscious, guided by instinct, dream logic or drug experience. Sometimes it means traveling the world, communing with shamans and street musicians and rented Japanese dogs; sometimes it means reaching out into different mediums, genres, colors and emotions. The individuals spotlighted in this issue of Revolver have all opened minds, pushed their boundaries —and our own — by taking creative leaps that may have been jarring at first but ultimately, after many listens, won the public over.
The box set cover is additional photography by Jimmy Hubbard from Revolver’s special photo shoot — inspired by the band’s aesthetic and latest album, I Loved You at Your Darkest — with Behemoth frontman Adam Nergal Darski.
