Loathe burned bright from the start. With 2017 debut album The Cold Sun, the Liverpool-formed foursome batter through songs built around defiant discordance, ground-shaking technical djent and a dash of dark-and-doomy melody. The band would go on to become more experimental and pop-daring as time went on, but ten years on songs like “East of Eden” and “Dance on My Skin” still crush with astonishing confidence. A hard-hitting debut that set up Loathe as ones to watch in the modern heavy sphere.
