With his sophomore solo full-length, 1987’s Abigail, King Diamond crafted his first bona fide concept album, telling the chilling tale of Miriam Natias and her husband, Jonathan LaFey, who move into a very haunted ancestral mansion. Disaster may befall the story’s protagonists, but for King, the LP is nothing less than a masterpiece. It’s also his eponymous band’s last with its classic original lineup, as guitarist Michael Denner and bassist Timi Hansen would split shortly after Abigail’s release. Revolver Staff
