Controversial upon release, but aged like fine wine, Iron Maiden’s Somewhere in Time is one of the more curious outliers in the band’s mighty catalogue. Released in 1986, it features wistful pop-banger “Wasted Years,” and likewise marks the moment where the New Wave of British Heavy Metal titans opted to bring futuristic synth sounds into their songwriting. Accordingly, it features bad-ass cover art that morphedband mascot Eddie into a cyborg bounty hunter. Though it’s sold millions worldwide, Somewhere in Time is still an underrated release filled with deep cut killers. Repressed for its 40th anniversary on “Oxblood”-tinted vinyl.
