It’s hard to believe that Appetite for Destruction wasn’t an immediate worldwide smash — especially considering how the Gunners have now sold more than 30 million copies of their 1987 debut album — yet in truth it took more than a year for the band’s rebellious night train to really pick up steam. Better late than never, though, as the album is a raw and reckless reflection of a band on the rise. Take this one to heart: between the impeccably mean-mugged hard rock (“Welcome to the Jungle,” “It’s So Easy”) and arena-made anthems (“Paradise City,” “Sweet Child O’ Mine”), Appetite for Destruction is a must-have for any music fan.
