20th anniversary reissue on Blue Skies colored limited vinyl. The breakthrough album for New England metalcore outfit who incorporated more metal and melodic influences into their music bridging the mosh pit to mainstream metal radio.
Formed in Boston in 1997, Diecast was originally established as a four-piece hardcore band. Two popular underground album releases saw them adding guitarist Jon Kita and opening tours for Slayer and Hatebreed in 2002.
Faced with record label issues, and dissension internally about the musical direction the recording phase for their third full-length album stalled as founding member and vocalist Colin Schleifer left the group in May 2003 to pursue other interests, and was replaced by vocalist Paul Stoddard.
Diecast inked a new record deal with Century Media Records, who released ‘Tearing Down Your Blue Skies’ in 2004, marketing to the band’s original hardcore and metal fanbase but also by promoting the band to active rock radio and growing their audience as the album showed the wider appeal of the group, and new singer Paul Stoddard who could roar like a beast but also sing like an angel. The track “Rise and Oppose” was even licensed by Volkswagen Automotive and used in an advertisement for the Volkswagen Jetta.
Still touring for the album in 2006, Diecast recorded 3 songs, including a cover of Slayer’s “Raining Blood” with producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall, God Forbid, Soulfly) and Century Media reissued the album for a deluxe CD reissue and utilized the European cover artwork. This variant is what we bring you with an expanded 4-page insert for the record’s 20th anniversary and first time on vinyl in N. America.
