NOLA sludge bruisers Crowbar push the volume heavy on their seventh sonic triumph. At the front of the group is legendary guitarist-vocalist Kirk Windstein (also of Down), who delivers bleak-crunched riffs and compellingly raw, raspy emotivity on the mic. It’s the last of their albums to feature guitarist Sammy Duet, and is uniquely the only one to feature bassist Jeff Okoneski and former Machine Head drummer Tony Costanza. While it’s a stone-cold classic, the album got an unexpected bump in recent times when the staggering slow-grooving “Repulsive in Its Splendid Beauty” blew up on TikTok. An utter crusher in the Crowbar catalogue, as if you’d expect anything less.
