Deliverance is when Corrosion of Conformity fully became the band we know today. With Pepper Keenan stepping up to the mic and taking on songwriting duties, their sound was swiftly imbued with his Southern drawl and warm adoration for Seventies-era Southern Rock. Knockouts like “Clean My Wounds” and “Heaven’s Not Overflowing” aren’t subtle about the band’s love of ZZ Top, while a song like “Albatross” would’ve scanned as Soundgarden-y grunge if CoC hailed from Seattle. Needless to say, it all rips.
