The ruthless start of a diverse catalogue, 2006’s Count Your Blessings is the deathcore-destructive debut release from Bring Me the Horizon. Named after a line from opening number “Pray for Plagues,” the album begins with an ideas-jammed assault of terror-blasts, demonically divine guitar arpeggios and armor-piercing riffs. While he’d croon in later years, frontman Oli Sykes initially sustained himself on a diet of goblin shrieks and grotesque gutturals. The album rarely lets up the intensity, standing as one of BMTH’s most furious efforts, even despite jokey song titles like “Off the Heezay”. Back in print on sustainable EcoVinyl, just in time for its 20th anniversary.
