Black Label Society are an incredibly prolific band, but Mafia is a great starting point for new fans and a key highlight for OGs. Zakk Wylde and Co.’s 2005 LP displays the full breath of their sound, from the emotionally-crushing “In This River” — a power-ballad tribute dedicated to Dimebag Darrell — to the steamrolling groove-metal banger that is “Suicide Messiah.” Plus, the slow-building intro of “Fire it Up” is one of the most exciting metal opening salvos of its era.
