Maori modern groove metal trio ALIEN WEAPONRY release their most powerful and mature work to date with Te R via Napalm Records. Since their acclaimed debut album T (2018), ALIEN WEAPONRY have been celebrated for their energetic and distinctive sound. With their mix of profound and socially critical lyrics in English and te reo Maori, the language of the indigenous people of New Zealand, they have metal world by storm while still in their teens.
With their third studio album Te Ra, the New Zealanders present their strongest production to date and very focussed songwriting, while they continue to address social and cultural grievances of our time from the perspective of musicians of M ori descent. Under the direction of the experienced producer Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Gojira, Megadeth) and with a feature from long-time ALIEN WEAPONRY supporter Randy Blythe (Lamb Of God), groove, nu, math and thrash metal elements merge into an energetic sound.
As a body of work, Te R captures the feeling of being caught between different cultures - an issue that affects not only the descendants of colonised peoples, but all of us of colonised peoples, but all of us.
