Arguably the first album to establish melodic hardcore as its very own micro-genre, 7 Seconds’ The Crew is one of the most influential records to emerge from its fruitful era of punk luminaries. The Reno band’s 1984 debut can be heard reverberating throughout so much of the SoCal punk that reached mainstream heights in the ‘90s, but Kevin Seconds’ hardcore bark keeps the songs rooted in the VFW halls and run-down bars that 7 Seconds sprung from. This is history that still sounds vital.
