Visionary metal icon Chuck Schuldiner’s seventh and final full-length with Death ends one of extreme music’s most legendary runs, and it does so in punishing, progressive fashion. Songs like “Scavenger of Human Sorrow” go in for the kill with a mix of blistering terror-thrash and jazz-centric shred, while Schuldiner’s vocal rasp across the record may be his most visceral and lacerating.
