Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor raised eyebrows over the weekend after suggesting to a Tulsa, Oklahoma crowd that this latest run of “Peel It Back” tour dates could potentially be the iconic industrial unit’s last.
Reznor cast doubt on the future of NIN as a live entity last Friday (February 27th) at Tulsa’s BOK Center. Between songs, the bandleader reminisced about performing at the city’s Cain’s Ballroom in 1990, when they’d been the support act on a Peter Murphy solo tour, and further weighed in on the connection NIN have made with crowds over the years. This bled into a casual, off-hand suggestion that NIN’s road days may be coming to an end.
“I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now,” he told the crowd. “I’m fucking grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight. Thank you very much.”

Mind you, no formal announcement has been made from the band on this point. The Peel It Back tour continues tomorrow (March 3rd) at Dallas, Texas’ American Airlines Center, and wraps mid-month at March 16th tour-closer at Sacramento, California’s Golden 1 Center. They then have a pair of spring appearances lined up at Coachella.
