Following last month’s mortality-and-conflict-contemplating “Power to Live” single, doom supergroup SUN DONT SHINE — featuring members of Crowbar, Down and Type O Negative — have now officially detailed their forthcoming debut LP, FROM BIRTH TO DEATH.
We’d known the album title for a while, with the band having unveiled that bit of info last fall alongside the launch of the single “In the End.” It’s now been confirmed that the full-length debut will first arrive on CD through Corpse Paint Records on April 1st. The vinyl edition — exclusively available via Revolver‘s shop — is expected to land on turntables in early June.
The nine-song effort includes recent songs like “Power to Live” and “In the End,” as well as “The Promise Song” and “Coming Down” — those earlier tracks had initially been delivered to streamers and across various limited vinyl and CD releases.
The vinyl edition of FROM BIRTH TO DEATH is being served up on two colorways — “Dark Blue Marble” and “Gray Marble” — and each is being delivered in a limited-edition pressing of 250 copies. Those variants both come packaged with a 4-inch Tiny Vinyl platter (playable on most record players) that includes previously released bonus track “Dreams Always Die with the Sun,” the 2023 single the band had debuted under their original name, EYEAM.
The exclusive vinyl variants are already up for preorder, and can be bundled together with a SUN DONT SHINE T-shirt or a band-branded skateboard deck, both also only available through Revolver. You can order everything here.
As previously reported, SUN DONT SHINE’s ranks include vocalist-guitarist Kenny Hickey (Type O Negative, Silvertomb) and guitarist Kirk Windstein (Crowbar, Down) drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative, Silvertomb) and bassist Todd Strange (Crowbar, Down).
