Last night (February 1st) found many heavy music fans tuning into the Grammy Awards to see Post Malone and Co. paying homage to the late Ozzy Osbourne at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, but that wasn’t the only all-star tribute to take place in SoCal this past weekend. Over at the Knott’s Berry Farm theme park in nearby Buena Park, California, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang introduced a new Prince of Darkness-themed number into their “Legendary Rooftop Concert.”
The latest iteration of Snoopy’s Legendary Rooftop Concert, which finds Peanuts characters performing onstage with backup band the Jelly of the Month Club, now delivers a hard rock finale that finds Snoopy donning an Osbourne-like mop of hair and crucifix, and dancing around onstage to “Crazy Train” as “Doggy Pawsborne, the Prince of Barkness.”
It’s not a 1:1 cover, with the O.G. “Crazy Train” lyrics being swapped out for Peanuts-puns aplenty (“Crazy, but that’s how it goes / Charlie Brown’s beagle is the coolest of Joes”). Later, as you’ll see via the park-goer-shot footage up above, that round-headed kid comes bounding out from backstage in full Angus Young cosplay to hit a “Thunderstruck”-ish guitar sequence, and then everyone jams out on AC/DC’s “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll)”.
As you’ll see down below, the updated show also salutes late Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley, with Snoopy dressing up as the Spaceman in another routine.
Whether you choose to revel in the playful rooftop madness or groan out a gigantic “good grief” is for you to decide.
