Though Slipknot did just serve up a big, expanded box set edition of their landmark self-titled debut, many Maggots will remember that the promise of new music is also on the horizon — or so says semi-recently instated drummer Eloy Casagrande. While we still haven’t heard their long promised “Long May You Die,” the skinsman has now added that the Iowa Nine actually have a lot of other songs in the works, too.
As previously reported, Slipknot confirmed the existence of a song called “Long May You Die” back in May of 2024 via an Instagram post, though the track has not yet made it out of the lab. In a new interview with Drummer’s Review, Casgrande noted that they’ve been jamming out a bunch of other musical ideas, though nothing firm has been put in place for the ETA of any of this.
“What I can tell you right now is that we are cooking, we are doing some new music, for sure. Yes, we are,” he said.
“Since I joined the band, we have been working on some new ideas. We keep exchanging guitar riffs, drum beats, so we are always doing something. We had also some jam sessions. So, we have a lot of material right now. We just have to sit and put everything together, start jamming, and it’s happening. It already happened. It’s gonna happen in the future. So new material is coming, for sure.”
While there’s not much to hang onto thus far, there does appear to be movement on the band’s first songs with former Sepultura drummer Casagrande behind the kit.
