Marking the second rock album this month to do so, Sleep Token’s latest offering, Even in Arcadia, has debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
According to Billboard, Sleep Token’s fourth LP hit the top of the U.S. album charts in its first week of release, and likewise made it to No. 1 in their native UK.
While Sleep Token technically dethroned Bad Bunny’s Debí Tirar Más Fotos, Even in Arcadia’s dominance also follows Ghost’s recent chart-topping SKELETÁ, which had been the first rock album to top the Billboard 200 album charts since 2020. Sleep Token have now followed suit, and their new album has additionally become the highest-selling rock release of the year thus far.
The album has reportedly cleared the equivalent of 127,000 copies sold, between streaming numbers and physical albums sales. 73,500 of those are hard-copy sales, and of that, 47,000 were on vinyl. On the digital side, according to Billboard, the record tallied the largest streaming week ever for a hard-rock album.
As previously reported, Even in Arcadia — the band’s first album through RCA Records — was a much-anticipated offering from the UK outfit, and they drummed up hype early via a mysterious website, and then a series of meta-referential genre-bending singles (“Emergence,” “Caramel” and “Damocles”).
