The luthiers at Jackson and Charvel have partnered up with Sleep Token to produce a pair of signature models for the alt-metal outfit’s bassist III and guitarist IV.
The instruments were formally unveiled earlier today (August 26th), and touring guitarist IV’s new Pro Plus Series Monarkh SC is touted as the perfect weapon for harnessing “the crushing heaviness and dynamic range” that defines Sleep Token’s sound. The baritone guitar has a 30-inch scale, 22-fret neck he and other guitarists can put a chokehold onto.
It’s got a bound mahogany body with a quilt maple veneer, and it’s added that it’s been built to deliver “everything from powerful cleans to devastating low-end riffs and saturated leads with exceptional clarity and stability.”
III’s Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Bass V has a poplar body, has been mounted with Fishman Fluence soap bar pickups, and has a question mark inlay stretching between the 11th and 13th frets.
“Sleep Token’s sonic and visual identity is so distinctive, and the Jackson and Charvel signature models are a huge part of shaping that sound,” Fender Guitars chief product officer Justin Norvell said in a statement (ed. Fender owns the Jackson and Charvel brands). “We’re always looking for artists who redefine what a signature instrument can be, and Sleep Token does exactly that.”
Both instruments are already up for sale through Jackson and Charvel — the Monarkh baritone guitar is retailing for $2,199 USD, while the Bass V goes for $1,599.
